PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an aliphatic polyester resin for the production of a foam, having a high molecular weight and possessing biodegradability as well as good foamability, and to provide a foam obtained from the aliphatic polyester. SOLUTION: The aliphatic polyester resin for the production of a foam wherein the recoverable strainγR (=N1/2σ) is 1.0-10.0 at a temperature of 190°C and a shear rate of 5.0 sec<SP>-1</SP>is provided, and the longest relaxation timeτ<SB>d</SB>at that temperature is 10-100 sec. The aliphatic polyester resin foam molding is prepared by molding the resin by using a thermally decomposable blowing agent, a volatile blowing agent, or a high-pressure inorganic gas.
