PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a hydrophilized open cell polyurethane foam suitable as a waste ink-absorbing material, an artificial culture medium for raising seedlings, and the like. SOLUTION: This method for producing the polyurethane foam from a polyisocyanate compound, a hydroxy compound having a polyoxyethylene content of≥20 wt.%, a foaming agent, a catalyst, and a polydimethylsiloxane- polyoxyalkylene copolymer as essential components, wherein a polydimethylsiloxane-polyoxyalkylene copolymer having a specific structure and a good foam-stabilizing property and a polydimethylsiloxane-polyoxyalkylene copolymer having a specific structure and not having a good foam-stabilizing property are used.
