PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a gas detection member for automatically measuring a concentration or the like of a gas when the concentration or the like of the gas is to be measured for controlling information on a kind, a production date, a period termination date or the like of the gas, and for recording information on a measuring place, a measured value, a measuring condition or the like. SOLUTION: The gas detection member comprises a detecting agent dissolved by reacting with a specific gas, the detecting agent is brought into contact with ambient air, and the concentration of the specific gas contained in the air is detected. The detection member is provided with an information region used to read and write information on the detection member, the concentration or the like of the gas is measured automatically, the information on the kind, the production date, the period termination date or the like of the gas is controlled, and the information on the measuring place, the measured value, the measuring condition or the like is recorded.
