PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a film scanner which allows a user to easily confirm the focus of a film, from which an image will be read, and allows the user to accurately read the image. SOLUTION: The film scanner is constituted of a film holder 200 holding the film having a developed image and a scanner main body part 100 for reading the image on the film by an imaging device. The film holder 200 holds a film F between a plane plate (light guiding plate) 212 and a film retainer 220. The film F held by the film holder 200 has flatness kept by the plane plate, and the focus is confirmed with the film in the film holder 200. Since the image can be read simultaneously with focus confirmation, work from focus confirmation to read is simplified, and a frame image for which focus confirmation has been performed and a frame image to be read are not mistaken for each other.
