PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a fuel assembly for a boiling water reactor capable of remounting smoothly and easily a channel box on an irradiated BWR fuel assembly, and improving efficiency of a visual inspection work. SOLUTION: In this fuel assembly for the boiling water reactor, a plurality of fuel rods are supported on upper and lower both ends by an upper tie plate and a lower tie plate as a bundle of a prescribed tetragonal lattice array and stored in the rectangular-shaped channel box. The fuel assembly is equipped with a tapered face tilted from the position furthermore inside the assembly than the outermost surface position of the outermost fuel rods on the upper face fringe of the lower tie plate.
