An oven cover plate with heating-signal transmitter especially for ovens with cooking/oven plates (3) and in which the oven cover plate/s (1) have different colors, shapes, sizes and designs for improved appearance when placed over the oven- or cooking-plate during periods of non-use. A warning signal points out that undesired heating or build-up of heat is occurring at the cooking plate (3), thus increasing fire-risk, during unintentional switching-on of one or more cooking plates. The oven cover-plate (1) has an inner heat-resistant protective layer (1b) which is tightly joined to and is covered by the outer shell (1a).
