An electronic display apparatus capable of creating a display screen which can easily be viewed and understood when displaying a list of contents which can be displayed. In an electronic display apparatus (electronic book, electronic book apparatus) (1), in response to display mode selection by a user, a display mode instruction signal is received from an operation switch signal input unit (12) and a display mode setting unit (11) sets the display mode. In this display mode set, a list of the contents contained in a conveyable storage medium (20) is displayed on the display screen. Thus, the user can select a desired display mode from a plurality of display modes. Moreover, according to the number of contents to be displayed in a list, it is possible to select a display mode in the electronic display apparatus, thereby displaying a content list. Thus, it is possible to display a content list in an optimal mode according to the number of contents.
