PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a nonwoven fabric having a moderate compactness, and a method for producing the same. SOLUTION: A method for producing the nonwoven fabric comprising fibrillated liquid crystalline polymeric fibers having 0.2-2 mm weight-average fiber length without three-dimensionally interlacing the fibers is provided. The method comprises carrying out treatment with a water stream in any site on a machine wire to just before drying in a wet sheet-forming step. COPYRIGHT: (C)2003,JPO
