PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a silver halide photographic sensitive material having high sensitivity and ensuring little stain. SOLUTION: The silver halide photographic sensitive material contains a methine dye represented by formula (I) and a compound represented by the formula (X)<SB>k</SB>-(L)<SB>m</SB>-(A-B)<SB>n</SB>, wherein Y is a group of atoms forming a 5- or 6-membered unsaturated heterocycle; Z is a group of atoms forming a 5- or 6-membered N-containing heterocycle; R is alkyl, aryl or a heterocyclic group; D is a group required to form a methine dye; L<SP>1</SP>and L<SP>2</SP>are each methine; p and n are each 0 or 1; M is a counter ion; m is a number of≥0 required to neutralize electric charges in each molecule; X is a silver halide adsorbing group or a light absorbing group; L is a divalent linking group; A is an electron donative group; B is a releasable group or H and is released or deprotonated after oxidation to generate a radical A*; and k and m are each an integer of 0-3.
