PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a thin etalon having high stability against temperature. SOLUTION: The etalon comprises at least one transparent plate, and the transparent plate consists of a lithium tantalate single crystal. Or, the etalon comprises at least one transparent plate and the plate consists of a lithium niobate single crystal. In the method for manufacturing the etalon, a lithium tantalate single crystal or a lithium niobate single crystal is grown by the Czochralski method, and a transparent plate is produced from the single crystal to manufacture the etalon.
