PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve a driving force transmission performance and durability compared to a conventional toothed belt of a continuously variable transmission by composing a belt of metal in a manner to be engaged with an inclined face of a pulley. SOLUTION: This toothed belt 10 for a continuously variable transmission is wound around a width-variable V-groove 50 defined by a pair of pulleys 46, 47. The belt has an annular belt body 12 composed of a rubber-like elastic material and having a plurality of teeth 20 spaced from each other in a peripheral direction; and a metal member 22 fixed to each tooth with adhesion and extending in a belt width direction. The teeth 20 have an isosceles trapezoidal cross section shape and linearly extend in the belt width direction. The metal member 22 has a top side part 26 and side parts 32, 34 extending along an outer profile of the teeth 20, and is engaged with inclined faces 46A, 48A of a pair of pulleys on both ends 32B, 34B in the belt width direction.
