The welding unit comprises electrodes (12.1-12.6) arranged on a turret unit (3) which can be programmed so as to be optimized with respect to time. The welding unit has a set-down unit (14) and a readjusting unit (19) and also an electrode arranged on it. By rotation of the turret unit (3), the electrode is brought into position and the connection is produced. The set-down unit can be controlled by an NC programmable servo-axle.
