<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To effectively carry out oxidative decomposition of harmful substances while suppressing poisoning by siloxane being a catalyst poison contained in an exhaust gas in an incineration exhaust gas system of a waste material treatment facility or the like or an exhaust gas of a digestion gas generated in a biological treatment facility for treating waste water and sludge. <P>SOLUTION: A catalyst comprises catalyst fine particles 22 of at least one kind selected from metals of Pt and Pd and oxides of Pt and Pd or at least one combination of them, which are supported on the surface of a carrier layer comprising ceramic fine particles 21 of TiO<SB>2</SB>. The catalyst is supported on the inner wall, being a support 11, of each of many gas flow passages 12 in a ceramic honeycomb member 1. Thereby, the function for decomposing harmful substances such as dioxins or offensive odor components contained in the exhaust gas is provided, and at the same time, the poisoning by siloxane contained in the exhaust gas can be suppressed. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2003,JPO |
