PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a header provided with a pitch feed mechanism capable of correctly pitch-feeding a wire by a predetermined pitch feed by a small feeding force. SOLUTION: The header comprises: a pair of pitch feed rollers 51 and 52 to pitch-feed the wire 4 toward a finger 43 by holding the wire 4 and pitch- rotating it; a crank mechanism to pitch-rotate one of the pitch feed rollers 51 and 52; a straightening roller 5 to straighten the bend of the wire 4 fed from a wire feed unit 6; a pair of auxiliary rollers 71 and 72 to hold the wire 4 on the upstream side of the pitch feed rollers 51 and 52; and a motor 73 to drive the auxiliary roller 71 in a constantly rolling manner to the feeding direction of the wire 4. The feeding force of the wire 4 by the auxiliary rollers 71 and 72 is set to be smaller than the feeding force required for the pitch-feed of the wire 4, and the wire 4 is pitch-fed toward the finger 43 by the combined force of the feeding forces of the pitch-feed rollers 51 and 52 and the auxiliary rollers 71 and 72.
