PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To automatically remove scale which is deposited with the passage of time on the surface of a protective inner tube enclosing the ultraviolet lamp of a lamp type water sterilization machine to reduce the sterilization effect of the lamp. SOLUTION: In the lamp type water sterilization machine, the protective inner tube 4 enclosing the ultraviolet lamp 3 is inserted into an outer tube 2 having a water inlet on the lower end side and a water outlet on the upper end side which constitutes the casing of the machine. A sleeve-shaped scraper 22 having a flange 23 for withstanding the increased pressure of raw water is arranged to enclose the inner tube 4. The flange 23 is composed of the aggregation of in-water propellent twisted blades 24. By forming the flange 23, the scale deposited on the surface of the inner tube is scraped off by the ascending rotation along the inner tube of the scraper. COPYRIGHT: (C)2003,JPO
