PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a hemming method for simplifying a hemming device and performing adequate working at low cost, and the hemming device used therefor. SOLUTION: This hemming device comprises a lower die 102 to set the work W at a predetermined position and dispose a pressing means 10 on the outer side of a circumferential edge part of the work W, and an upper die 101 having a push-and-stop unit 102a to push and stop the inner side of the circumferential edge part of the work when closed to the lower die 102. A forming cavity 13 to accommodate the circumferential edge part and the pressing means 10 is formed by closing the lower die 102 and the upper die 101. The circumferential edge part of the work W is pressed inwardly to perform preliminary bending by swelling the pressing means 10 within the cavity 13.
