<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To solve the problem attributed to correction at many steps by correcting a registration error occurring in an output image. <P>SOLUTION: An image generation section 400 outputs a test pattern. A correction section 42 does not make any correction to the test pattern. An image forming section 44 prints the test pattern and outputs as an output image. The test pattern printed is read, and a registration error detection section 402 obtains a registration error from the original test pattern and the test pattern read. An operating position adjustment section 404 adjusts correction points in horizontal and vertical scanning directions on the basis of the test pattern and the registration error to prevent concentration of the correction points in those scanning directions. A horizontal scanning direction correction section 420 and a vertical scanning direction correction section 422 carry out a correction to prevent a registration error for specified correction points of image data. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2003,JPO |
