PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an extrusion die for forming a sheet from an expanded biodegradable material. SOLUTION: The extrusion die comprises a mandrel, an outer member positioned near the mandrel, an extrusion orifice between the mandrel and the outer member, a member in communication with at least one of members defining the extrusion orifice (wherein this member is capable of producing a relative movement between the outer member and the mandrel and this relative movement has a component transverse to an extrusion direction of the biodegradable material through the extrusion orifice), a flow control device controlling flow of the biodegradable material through the extrusion die, and a positioning device positioning the outer member and the mandrel relative to each other. A process for producing a reinforced biodegradable shaped product comprises extruding and molding the biodegradable material, shearing the biodegradable material in the second direction having a component transverse to the first direction during extruding and molding, and spraying a fibrous material into the interior of the extrudate.
