PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a foam, the cushioning properties, heat insulating properties, lightening, floatability, sound absorbing qualities or the like of which can be heightened through the realization of the foam with a higher expansion ratio than ever and, at the same time, the rigidity of which can be ensured through a simple operation. SOLUTION: In this thermoplastic resin foam, along the peripheral parts of one side of which, reinforcing ribs (24) curved in a U-shape in cross section or folded back in a V-shape in cross section are provided. The foam can be also made to have regions, the expansion ratios and/or the states of bubbles in which are different from each other in the planar direction and, along the peripheral parts of one side in each of which, the reinforcing ribs (24) curved in a U-shape in cross section or folded back in a V-shape in cross section are provided. The foam can also have the reinforcing ribs (24), the folded back parts of which folded back in the V-shape in cross section are overlapped with each other.
