PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a dish washer which reduces the consumption of a detergent and shortens the time for washing by disposing electrolytic water forming means for supplying electrolytic water reformed to alkalinity to dishes. SOLUTION: The dish washer has electrolytic water forming means 1 having first and second electrodes 12 and 13 formed of conductive metals disposed in an electrolytic cell 11 and an intermediate electrode 14 formed of magnesium and forming the alkaline electrolytic water by dissolving Mg<SP>2+</SP>ions into water from the intermediate electrode 14 by electrolysis and dish washing means 2 for washing the dishes by supplying the electrolytic water at need and has a controller 30 for forming the alkaline electrolytic water by impressing a voltage to the first and second electrodes 12 and 13. The controller 30 is adapted to wash the dishes by supplying the alkaline electrolytic water to the dish washing means 2.
