PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for clearly detecting a noise due to flaw or dirt on an original read means without the need for a troublesome operation by a user side. SOLUTION: Image information read by the original read means is stored as memory data, the data are subjected to image processing, the memory data are separated into white regions and pixel regions, and comparing the data of the pixel regions with the memory data of the image information having already been stored can detect the noise N produced in an original reading stage.
