PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an electric screwdriver which can surely prevent noise or vibration due to improper engagement of a clutch caused by pressing load of an operator at screw tightening work. SOLUTION: This electric screwdriver has a first and a second spindles 120 and 130, clutch means 123, 141, a clutch engagement regulating means 150, and a first spindle approach regulating means 167, the first spindle approach regulating means 167 gives the first spindle 120 an energizing force for regulating approach toward a machine body 110 when the clutch means 123 and 141 is disengaged, while application of the energizing force is cancelled when the first spindle 120 is moved toward the machine body 110 by the pressing load to be engaged with the clutch means 123 and 141.
