PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for concentrating18O, which is excellent in selectivity. SOLUTION: Laser having a peak wave number (νx) in a range given by following formula:ν1-80≤νx≤ν2-35 (wherein,ν1shows the wave number (cm-1) of the absorption peak of C-18O-C bond in a saturated aliphatic ether;ν2shows the wave number (cm-1) of the absorption peak of C-16O-C bond in the saturated aliphatic ether; andνxshows wave the number (cm-1) of the laser) is used as a laser when the saturated aliphatic ether is irradiated with a single laser or as an excitation laser when the ether is irradiated with a combination of the excitation laser and decomposition laser.
