PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an apparatus for detoxification of organic wastes which can be operated continuously in the detoxification treatment of organic wastes being objects to be treated and can perform the detoxification treatment with a high decomposition capability and a method for operating the same. SOLUTION: The apparatus 10 for detoxification of the organic wastes comprises performing the decomposition and detoxification treatment of the harmful wastes, such as organic chlorine compounds, organic compounds, by feeding the organic wastes into reactors 11a, 11b and 11c containing fused salts. The apparatus 10 is provided with a plurality of units of the reactors 11a, 11b and 11c and is configured to a loop form by successively connecting the respective reactors 11a, 11b and 11c. The apparatus is constituted in such a manner that the decomposition and detoxification treatment of the organic wastes can be continuously operated by setting at least one unit 11c among the reactors 11a, 11b and 11c at a standby state and by using the remaining reactors 11a and 11b.
