PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a multibeam recorder in which imaging operation can be sustained only with normal lasers while sustaining the productivity and image density of an imaging apparatus without causing any cost increase. SOLUTION: The multibeam recorder comprises a means 5 for detecting a plurality of light beams independently and counting the number of beams detected during a single scanning, and means 6 for specifying an abnormal beam by lighting the light beams selectively when the number of beams detected by the beam counting means is smaller than a specified number. The multibeam recorder is further provided with a write control means 7 for recording information onto a recording medium only with light beams lighting normally obtained from the abnormal beam specifying means, and means 8 for switching the variable range of the quantity of light beam by the write control means depending on the number of abnormal beams being used.
