PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a control method for an ash heating and dechlorination treatment apparatus capable of successively setting an operation target temperature optimum to the thermal decomposition of ash to be treated so as to follow the composition or properties of ash to be treated regardless of a laboratory test and capable of efficiently heating and decomposing dioxins in ash to be treated while avoiding the generation of a granulation and adhesion phenomenon. SOLUTION: In the ash heating and dechlorination treatment apparatus 1 having a heater 13 and an ash cooler 15, a temperature rise is controlled after the start of operation and a control target temperature Ts is set on the basis of the detected temperature Tm of ash A2 detected when the granulation of ash on the downstream side of the outlet of the heater 13 is generated. When the granulation of ash is not generated and the detected temperature Tm reaches an operation upper limit temperature Ta, the operation upper limit temperature Ta is set as the control target temperature Ts to perform control so that the detected temperature Tm keeps the control target temperature Ts.
