PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an iron core to which insulating film treatment extremely excellent in insulating properties, adhesion, corrosion resistance or the like is applied as an insulating film treatment technique for the end surface or surface of the iron core in the production of the iron core using an electromagnetic steel plate, and an insulating film treatment method for the end surface of the iron core. SOLUTION: The iron core using the electromagnetic steel plate is treated with a film agent, which is prepared by compounding 20-130 pts.mass of Si(OR1)4(wherein, R3is a 1-6C alkyl group) with 100 pts.mass of R1nSi(OR2)4-n(wherein, R1is a 1-6C hydrocarbon group, R2is a 1-6C alkyl group and n is 1-3), and has an insulating film of 1-25 g/m2as SiO2on the end surface of the iron core as a dry film. As the film on the end surface o the iron core after drying, a treated part has a mean film thickness of 0.5-20μm and a withstand voltage of 30 V or more. COPYRIGHT: (C)2003,JPO
