PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a scalar type robot capable of reducing size of a base and easing a spatial necessary condition of a place for fixing the base. SOLUTION: This scalar type robot 1 is provided with a first arm 4 supported turnably on the base 2 on which a first shaft 8 is fixed through the first shaft 8 and a second arm 6 to which a second shaft 9 is fixed and which is turnably supported on the first arm 4 through the second shaft 19. Two motors 12, 13 are arranged in the first arm 4, and driving force of the motor 12 on one side is transmitted to the first shaft 8 through a bevel gear mechanism and a reduction gear 17 to turn the first arm 4 for the base 2 by reaction force. Moreover, driving force of the motor 14 on the other side is transmitted to the second shaft 19 through a bevel gear mechanism and a reduction gear 20 to turn the second arm 6 for the first arm 4.
