PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To accurately provide a required concentration distribution to a metal component concentration in a wet gel manufactured by the sol-gel process. SOLUTION: In a method for manufacturing multicomponent glass which provides the concentration distribution to the metal components by dipping the wet gel containing the metal components manufactured by the sol-gel process in a dipping fluid, when the wet gel is kept in a cylindrical container and the dipping fluid is fed in to flow therein for dipping process, the dipping process is carried out with the diameter r of the wet gel and the inside diameter R of the cylindrical container to keep the wet gel satisfying r×1.3≤R≤r×2.0 and the length L of the unchanged part of the inside diameter R in the upstream direction of the wet gel satisfying L≥r×25 and the flow velocity S satisfying S≤100 mm/s.
