PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for preparation of dinitroamic acid and its salt, wherein the method is friendly to environment. SOLUTION: The dinitroamic acid is obtained by nitrating sulfamic acid ammonium with a fuming nitric acid as a nitration agent using a solid acid catalyst selected from the group consisting of montmorillonite clay catalyst, metallic ion-exchanged K10 montmorillonite clay catalyst, and a surface support catalyst. The dinitroamide ammonium is prepared by neutralizing the dinitroamic acid with ammonia, and separating the dinitroamide ammonium with a conventional treatment method. COPYRIGHT: (C)2003,JPO
