PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an intermediate transfer body with improved surface characteristics represented by wear resistance, release properties or the like in an image forming apparatus which uses an intermediate transfer device, moreover, to provide an intermediate transfer device free from side effects such as an abnormal image or the like during transfer, and to provide an image forming apparatus with high picture quality by using the above intermediate transfer device. SOLUTION: In the intermediate transfer device, a plurality of visible color developed images successively formed on an image carrying body with toners are successively superposed on the intermediate transfer body which travels endless so as to subject the images to primary transfer, and then the primarily transferred images on the intermediate transfer body are collectively subjected to secondary transfer. In the device, at least the surface of the intermediate transfer body 23 is constituted from a material containing a polyimide-modified silicone resin. COPYRIGHT: (C)2003,JPO
