PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a detachability improving method for an image forming material capable of easily peeling the image forming material from the image holding body surface of plain paper or the like where an image composed of a heat softening image forming material is formed. SOLUTION: A release agent 51 in a fine powder shape is applied to one surface of a traveling long-length image holding body 11 in an application mechanism 31 and then is fixed on the image holding body 11 by heating and fusing the release agent 51 in a heat fixing mechanism 32. As the application mechanism 31, for instance, while making the image holding body travel, the release agent in the fine powder shape housed in a hopper-like release agent vessel is dropped and sprayed from a supply port formed at a lower end part. The heat fixing mechanism 32 is constituted of a roller pair composed of a heating roller and a pressurizing roller for instance and the image holding body 11 is passed through the nip part of the roller pair while making it travel.
