PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a cast product without producing a shrinkage hole, mixing oxide film and entrapping gas, particularly, the cast product having thin thickness and large size by almost perfectly exhausting the gas in a cavity and effectively pressurizing molten metal in the closed cavity. SOLUTION: In a vertical type casting apparatus provided with a lower side fixed metallic mold 1 and an upper side movable metallic mold 2 which can form the cavity provided with a gas exhausting passage, an electromagnetic pump 40 and a vacuum suction means which supply and fill up the molten metal into the cavity from the lower part, a closing pin 13 which closes a molten metal flowing-in gate 10 arranged in the fixed metallic mold after the molten metal poured into the cavity fills up the cavity, and a pressurizing stem 14 and a pressurizing pin 20 which pressurize the molten metal in the cavity in the closed metallic mold, gaps for molten metal solidifying zone communicated with the gas exhausting passages are formed on the outer peripheral surfaces of the pressurizing stem and the pressurizing pin. The filled top molten metal is solidified in this gap and the gas exhausting passage can simply be closed and sealed. COPYRIGHT: (C)2003,JPO
