PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an apparatus for decreasing carbon particles PM, in which heating damages or the like are prevented, continuous regeneration and usage are enabled and excellent durability is attained and adverse effect due to sulfur is avoided. SOLUTION: The apparatus 12 for decreasing the carbon particles PM is formed by adopting a filter 13 having a wire mesh structure. The carbon particles contained in the exhaust gas 1 from a diesel engine are collected and accumulated by the filter 13 and oxidized and combusted to be decreased and removed. The filter 13 is formed by adopting a constitution such that platinum Pt is stuck to the wire for coating, a plurality of wires each having different density are used, intervals 14 between the filters are formed or an auxiliary part 15 formed by sticking platinum Pt on a honeycomb core 16 is mounted interposingly in the intervals 14. The collection ratio the removing ratio of the carbon particles PM is set and controlled to a range of 60-80%. |
