PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a sewing device facilitating setting of main cloth by informing an operator of clear references for sewing and the kind of the main cloth. SOLUTION: The sewing device has a marking light 161 for applying a positioning mark 16e to the top of the main cloth 21, a movement means 16b for moving the positioning mark 16e to plural positions on the same straight line, and the like. The marking light 161 reflects a positioning mark 16e which is asymmetrical with respect to a line perpendicular to the straight line. The sewing device is equipped with a turning means 16e for turning the shape of the positioning mark 16e by 180 degrees or inverting it.
