The engine-less pedal car (1) comprises a chassis with a main beam (2), a seat (3), front wheels (6), a rear beam (4) and rear wheels (5) fixed at the outer ends of rear or drive axles (7). The rear wheels are driven by a chain wheel (9) via the intermediary of a free-run coupling (100). The chain wheel is driven with the aid of pedals (10), which drive a chain wheel (8) and a chain (11) running around it. Using the free-running coupling, the pedal car at the choice of the user can be driven forward (A) or backward (B). The free-run coupling comprises a metal plate fixed non-rotatively to the chain wheel (9). A rear axle (7) extends through the plate and the chain wheel.
