The lock (6) comprises a bolt (7) which can be moved in an outwards direction from a position inside the window or door to a position inside an opening in a wall, frame or block. A spring device in the wall (2) containing the window or door (3) is used to urge the bolt into a chosen position in a direction transverse to its displacement direction. An independent claim is also included for a method for locking a window or door.
