A metal tube with a single-piece construction is placed in a die and then deformed by hydraulic pressure in order to form at least one expanded wall section protruding from the tube in a direction other than the tube length direction. The expanded wall section is then worked on to form a connecting tube (241). An Independent claim is also included for a bicycle frame produced by this method.
