PURPOSE: A system protection of a plasma display panel is provided to prevent a system from being overheated by lowering a level of a sustain pulse supplied to the plasma display panel within an unchanging level range of a gray scale. CONSTITUTION: A system protection of a plasma display panel includes a temperature sensor(20), a temperature comparison unit(21), a level lowering unit, a current sensor(23), and a current comparison unit(24). The temperature sensor(20) senses the temperature of a plasma display panel. The temperature comparison unit(21) outputs a particular signal when a sensed value of the temperature sensor is higher than a reference value. The level lowering unit lowers a level of a sustain pulse supplied to the plasma display panel within an unchanging level range of a gray scale. The current sensor(23) senses the current of a sustain driving unit for supplying the sustain pulse to the plasma display panel. The current comparison unit(24) outputs a particular signal when a value of the sensed current is higher than the reference value.
