PURPOSE: A VMS(Voice Mail Service) method for an Internet phone, which is controlled by a timer, is provided to automatically release a VMS function although a user forgets the release of the VMS function by inputting a time in which the user wishes for a VMS when the user operates the VMS function. CONSTITUTION: If a user pushes a VMS button(S1), an Internet phone displays a menu for inputting a time on an LCD(S2). If the user inputs a time in which the user wishes for receiving a VMS(S3), the Internet phone provides the VMS(S4). The Internet phone judges whether the time inputted by the user elapses and decides whether continuously providing the VMS(S5). If the time inputted by the user elapses, the Internet phone releases the VMS(S6).
