PURPOSE: A triode surface discharge plasma display panel is provided to achieve improved luminance and lengthen the useful life of the panel by preventing generation of high temperature heat at the panel and driving system. CONSTITUTION: A triode surface discharge plasma display panel comprises a front glass substrate(11) serving as a display surface; a rear glass substrate(12) spaced apart from the front glass substrate; and a plurality of barrier ribs(13a,13b) arranged on the surface of the rear glass substrate opposed to the front glass substrate so as to cooperate with the front and rear glass substrates to form a plurality of discharge spaces. The barrier ribs are made of a magnetic powder material. Barrier rib electrode lines(20a,20b) for magnetizing the corresponding barrier ribs are inserted into the lower ends of the barrier ribs, respectively.
