PURPOSE: A method for separating chiral compounds by using an aminocyclopentadienyl ruthenium catalyst is provided, to allow the chiral compounds to be separated at a low temperature by using a small amount of an acyl donor material and an enzyme catalyst. CONSTITUTION: The method comprises the step of reacting chiral compounds in a solvent in the presence of an aminocyclopentadienyl ruthenium complex represented by the formula 1 as a metal catalyst, an enzyme catalyst, an acyl donor material and a base, wherein R1's are independently a substituted or unsubstituted phenyl group or an alkyl group of C1-C5; R2 is H, a substituted or unsubstituted phenyl group, a substituted or unsubstituted alkyl group of C1-C5, a cycloalkyl group of C3-C5, an alkenyl group of C2-C5 or an alkynyl group of C2-C5; X, Y and Z are a substituent and are H, a carbonyl group, a phosphine group or a halogen atom if substituted; and the substituent of the phenyl group is one or two selected from the group consisting of an alkyl group of C1-C5, a cycloalkyl group, an alkenyl group, an alkynyl group, an alkoxy group, a halogen atom, a nitro group, a nitroso group, an amine group, an amide group, a hydroxyl group, a thiol group and a sulfide group, and the substituent of the alkyl group is one, two or three selected from the group consisting of an aryl group, an alkoxy group of C1-C5, a halogen atom, a nitro group, a nitroso group, an amine group, an amide group, a hydroxyl group, a thiol group and a sulfide group. Preferably the chiral compounds are a chiral secondary alcohol represented by the formula 3.
