PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve the strength (wear resistance) and moisture absorption resistance of the outermost layer of a roll by forming the outermost layer with a curable electrically conductive compsn. contg. a vinyl copolymer having hydrolyzable silyl groups, a curing catalyst and an electric conductivity imparting agent. SOLUTION: The outermost layer of this electrically conductive roll is formed with a curable electrically conductive compsn. contg. a vinyl copolymer having hydrolyzable silyl groups, a curing catalyst and an electric conductivity imparting agent. The vinyl copolymer having hydrolyzable silyl groups, preferably alkoxysilyl groups is converted into a vinyl copolymer having silanol groups by hydrolysis and then condenses. It is preferable that two or more hydrolyzable silyl groups exist in the copolymer at positions including at least both terminals because uniform satisfactory crosslinking takes place. The curing catalyst accelerates the reaction of the hydrolyzable silyl groups with each other and it is, e.g. dibutyl tin laurate. The electric conductivity imparting agent is, e.g. an org. antistatic agent. |
