PURPOSE: A remote control device and a method therefor are provided so that environment in home is set up by a condition for which a user wishes when the user comes home by informing a homecoming time and the desired condition to a power consumption device and an HN(Home Network) device while the user goes out. CONSTITUTION: An input device including a mobile communication device(102) and a computer(104) inputs a homecoming prediction time and a desired operation condition, so that the operation of a device is completed in the homecoming prediction time by a desired condition. A protocol control device(100-1) converts inputted information into a signal capable of controlling the device. A device driving unit(100-3) drives the device by an operation control signal. A control unit(100-5) receives the homecoming prediction time and the desired operation condition, which are transmitted through the protocol control device(100-1), subtracts an operation mode requirement time of the device from the homecoming prediction time to calculate an operation start time of the device, and outputs the operation control signal for controlling the operation of the device, according to the operation start time.
