PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To utilize a moving image distribution service or the like for a long period of time by reducing the consumption of battery power by appropriate operation limitation corresponding to the data structure of multimedia data in a battery-driven portable terminal.

SOLUTION: A data reproduction apparatus is provided with a reception part 11 for receiving the encoded data Md of the multimedia data, a decoding part 13 for decoding the received encoded data, and a video/sound output part 14 for displaying images or outputting sound on the basis of the decoded multimedia data. One or more of the operations of the reception part 11, the decoding part 13 and the video/sound output part 14 are limited corresponding to the data structure of the inputted multimedia encoded data and the setting by a user so as to suppress the consumption of the battery power Bp by the respective parts 11, 13 and 14.
