PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To record or reproduce a message in an optimal setting state at all the time without requiring a complicate operation by a user in a communication apparatus provided with a recording/reproducing function. SOLUTION: When a main control part 11 judges that a storage part 9 stores a telephone number matched with the telephone number contained in caller information coming from a communication line 1 and received by an information receiving part 7, a recording level in a recording/reproducing part 5 is set on the basis of the recording level stored in the storage part 9 corresponding to the telephone number.
