PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a measuring apparatus for an absorption factor and a method thereof that accurately measures the absorption factor of a sample even if thermal resistance between the sample and a sample holder and thermal resistance between a reference heater and the sample holder are different. SOLUTION: The measuring apparatus for the absorption factor measures the absorption factor of the sample with the rate of the temperature change of the sample holder between temperature during the application of irradiation light to the sample and that after the stop of the application thereof in condition that the sample is attached to the sample holder and the rate of the temperature change of the sample holder between temperature during the heat generation of the heater and that after the stop of the heat generation thereof in condition that the reference heater that can generate desired heat is attached to the sample holder. Then the measuring apparatus for the absorption factor is provided with a measuring means for a relaxation time measuring the relaxation time of the sample holder and an absorptivity computing means with a compensation function compensating and computing the absorption factor corresponding to the measured relaxation time.
