The syringe (1), equipped with a needle (6) on the end of its tubular body (4), incorporates a spring-loaded needle protector (22) and a support (20) fixed to the body. The protector is able to move relative to the support, and the spring is held in a compressed state prior to injection. At the end of the plunger (10) stroke the spring is released and the protector slides forward over the support to cover the needle.
