PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain an actuating device of a grating in which the deviation between positions of a scanning optical means and a photoreceptor drum due to the variation in environment or other variable factors is easily corrected and to obtain a scanning optical device having the actuating device. SOLUTION: A luminous flux emitted from a light source means 13 is deflected with a deflection means 16, guided upon a face to be scanned 18 with an optical means 1 and a diffraction grating is used as an element of the optical means of the scanning optical device with which the face to be scanned is scanned. The diffraction grating has a reference axis 11a in a main scanning cross-section, and the diffraction grating is provided with a turning means 19 which turns the diffraction grating in the main scanning cross-section.
