<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To satisfy a tracking error by stably maintaining optical coupling between a semiconductor light emitting element and an optical fiber, in an optical coupler of a single lens optical system. <P>SOLUTION: The optical coupler is characterized in that an optical isolator 9 and the optical fiber 15 are arranged inside a pipe 8 on the side face of a package 6, that the tip end of the optical fiber 15 is installed within an area not more than 3.0 mm from the inner/outer face of the package 6 side face, that a distance from a laser diode 1 to the tip end of the optical fiber 15 is set in the range of 3.5-7.5 mm, and that a distance from the inner side face of the package 6 to a Peltier element 5 is set within a range of 6.0 mm or less. In addition, a metallized pattern film 30 applied on the terminal substrate 19 of the package 6 is connected to the Peltier element 5 through a wire bonding 24, with the connection position situated on the optical fiber 15 side from a lead terminal 18 corresponding to the Peltier element 5 among the lead terminals 18 provided on the terminal substrate 19 of the package 6. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2003,JPO |
